OHRID WATERSPORTS CLUB

The clustered organization and pitched roofs of Ohrid’s European town houses inspired the form of the project, but the material used are deliberately modern to stand out as a land mark for various events. In traditional settings, interaction amongst pedestrians and residents occurred within the streets, where the architectural forms created separation of open space. This design sought to create unity and to maintain architectural traditions while constructing new typologies of spatial continuity. The project is located in the northwest corner of the site, which is approximately about 3 km away from the original pool facility, and less than 50 meters away from the coast line. The building itself is offset at least 15 meters away from the main roads to reserve outdoor space for special sports events. On non-event days, all programs except the administration space, can be easily accessed on the ground floor. Located on the second floor is a glass box, serving as the administrative offices and viewing decks looking into the pool area and out to Lake Ohrid.
